The Shadow

And the roof collapsed smashing them down,
In the sea of death , they did drown.
The sixteen year old took it as a baleful dream,
But it snatched away his euphoric beam.
That Ian was gifted with a mystic force,
Blessing was innate, soul being the source.
Acquired at the time of birth,
With it he could predict people's sadness and mirth.
And as someone passed near the predictor,
His senses would activate like a butterfly in search of nectar.
The shadows were the source of prediction,
For many years he considered it to be a benediction.
Success, happiness and death were a part of this prediction field,
The outline of the shadows would tell what his fortune would yield.
Either he would soar to heavenly heights,
Or the devil would take him in his hellish flight.
Year after year, his knowledge increased,
But while reading his parent's shadow, the forces ceased.
And the day of his sixteenth birthday approached,
His parental shadows got finally encroached.
Knowledge's increment required a proof,
When his parent's shadows reflected a collapsing roof.
Considering it a nightmare was his fault,
His mind at once came to a halt.
The blessings are at times, a curse in disguise,
Out of the blue, mysteries unveil, leaving us in surprise.
If you are provided with such a mystic force,
Beware! The effect might really be hoarse.
